Projects
1. The project YUMP,
Young Urban Movement Project, will involve young entrepreneurial spirits in the “Million Program” (Miljonprogrammet) areas and through a structured process will develop business areas and growth companies.
YUMP is a selective entrepreneur educational program which is entitled to CSN (translator’s note: Swedish financial aid for higher studies) and adapted to the interests of the target group.
IFS will operate the pilot project YUMP Academy together with YUMP Holding Inc. (AB), Botkyrka Municipality and a large number of so-called support companies. The project will verify processes and methods and ensure a more permanent situation financed by Swedish Industry.
The Million Program areas are most often associated with areas with a great deal of social problems and without growth opportunities. People living in these areas are younger than in the country-wide average. Despite the fact that the youths in the Million Program areas live and work in an environment which in many respects is characterized by resignation and alienation, “business” is a wide-spread subject of conversation, and many dream of success through having their own business. With the right type of initiative there exist strong possibilities to develop many exciting businesses and entrepreneurs in these areas.
This is also the purpose of this project.
YUMP’s long-term objective is to:
1. Show the power which can be harnessed among those living in the Million Program areas.
2. Build bridges between Swedish industry and the target group, and establish a network which promotes the target group.
3. Build mutual commercial levers for all parties involved.
4. Create methods and processes which also attract others who do not live in the Million Program areas.
The pilot project’s short-terms objectives:
1. Identify channels of communication with the target group to capture their interest and create a dialog about entrepreneurship.
2. Verify and develop an attractive process and pedagogy for the target group.
3. Point out to Swedish industry the entrepreneurial power to be found within the target group and work for their desire to involve themselves.
The target group for the project is individuals between 20 and 29 preferably living in the Million Program areas.
The project is financed by: IFS, NUTEK, YUMP Holding Inc. (AB) and Botkyrka municipality.
You are welcome to order the pilot study which was conducted by IFS in the spring of 2007.
2. The Project Migrant Entrepreneurs and the Public Sector
IFS together with Nutek and SafeTrade has started a project to make it easier for migrant entrepreneurs to conduct business with the public sector.

3. Film Production
IFS in collaboration with, among others, the European Refugee Fund (Europeiska Flyktningfonden) and the Confederation of Swedish Enterprise (Svenskt Näringsliv) has produced two films, "Start Your Own Company in Sweden” and "Ayten - Kurd, Swede, Entrepreneur". The films contain personal portraits of migrant entrepreneurs who have succeeded in Sweden and have been shown all over the country in various contexts, e.g. in schools.
Portions of the films will be shown here on the website.
